Goals:
The
goal of Operation:
A Cajun Christmas was
to bring hope and joy to the families of Vermilion Parish who suffered
widespread devastation from Hurricane Rita. The main focus was to
provide gifts for the children around Holiday time.
Accomplishments:
Operation: A Cajun Christmas
distributed gifts to over 7,000 children in Vermilion Parish, including
125 children in foster care, 10 families living in a shelter for
battered women, 93 residents of an area nursing home and 70 children
in the most impoverished area of Abbeville. Donations included:
toys, books, school supplies, sporting equipment, electronics.

facilities received large electronics (Foster Care Building, Battered
Woman’s Shelter, Hospital Children’s Ward , Nursing

community playground has been built in Abbeville.
Ongoing
Support:
Plans are underway
for a Recreation/Arts center. Donations and volunteers are still
being channeled into the Abbeville area.
