Volunteer to help finish a home in Katrina ravaged Waveland, Mississippi

The Giving Circle Work trip will take place: March 9 - March 17.  Camp Coastal Outpost will serve as our base of housing and meals. (A bunk, showers, laundry facility and 3 meals per-day is $15.00 per-day).  Volunteers of any skill level can be of a help!

This is the face of where your act of compassion will change a life: the 76 year old woman whose home we will finish. Ms. June Ladner's home was, like most in Hancock County, MS, destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Her new home was started and progressed to the point pictured, then left undone. This past December, a group was to come in and finish the home for her.  She waited and waited, and they never came. She was left without a permanent home and is still stuck in her FEMA camper, severely depressed.

Now, she has found the people whose compassion will help her live the rest of her life in a safe and healthy home: it's you, it's us.

The house shell is mainly done; the electrical is roughed in as is the plumbing. The insulation and much of the other material we will need to finish is there on site.

On this trip, TGC volunteers will also help to complete WLOX News Anchor Al Showers’ home. Read about progress on Al’s home here

If you would like to volunteer to help please contact Mark Bertrand, Ronald Maenza, or Ron Deutsch .

Another way to help:

If you or your friends, company, church, schools, or social groups would like to help in another way, Ms June has nothing left. Donations or gift cards would be a wonderful way to help. Lowes Gift Cards for building-related items for finishing this house and for home needs such as small or larger appliances, and Walmart Gift Cards for household needs from dishes, to bedding, to curtains. Or, donate online through Network for Good and please indicate that your donation is for Ms. June Ladner.

Many people doing just what they can, can change the world and, for Ms June, change her world. No amount is too small, no act of compassion is too small.
