Donor Rights and Privacy Policy

The Board of Directors of The Giving Circle, Inc. wants our donors to have full confidence in the mission that they are supporting. To this end, we have adopted the "Donor Bill of Rights," which has been endorsed by Independent Sector, the National Catholic Development Conference, the National Committee on Planned Giving, the National Council for Resource Development, and the United Way of America. Our donors have the right to:

• Be informed of The Giving Circle, Inc.'s mission, of the way The Giving Circle, Inc. intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
• Be informed of the identity of those serving on The Giving Circle, Inc.'s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
• Have access to The Giving Circle, Inc.'s most recent financial statements.
• Be assured that their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
• Receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.
• Be assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the fullest extent provided by the law.
• Expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
• Be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of The Giving Circle, Inc. or hired solicitors.
• Have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization intends to share.
• Feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful, and forthright answers.

The Board of Directors of the Giving Circle, Inc. respects the privacy of our individual and corporate donors and has adopted the following principles with respect to the privacy of our donors.

The Giving Circle, Inc. will never sell, trade, or rent your name, gift amount or personal information to other individuals or corporations in ways not otherwise required by law. The information that you provide will be used by us to provide a receipt of your donation.

• Corporate donors may request to have their logo included on The Giving Circle, Inc. website as one of our corporate sponsors. Please indicate on the corporate donation form that you would like to be added to The Giving Circle, Inc. website.
• If any donor would like to be included in our e-mailing list to receive future information on and/or solicitations from The Giving Circle, Inc., we would like your permission to do so. Please complete the form to be added to our e-mailing list.

The Board of Directors reserves the right to amend this policy at any time. This privacy policy was adopted on July 19, 2006.
