& Leroy My husband and I moved into our house in March '98 with my stepdaughter Lucretia and my stepson Thaddeus. We were very happy then Jan 31, 1999 Thaddeus was killed while walking across the street. He was held on life support until Feb 2, 1999 when we chose to donate his organs and now 3 people have their lives because of our unselfish act of kindness.
What
happens, Katrina comes and takes our hopes, dreams away in just
a few hours. How can that be? Now we have only our lives. For that
I am truly grateful. Everything else can be replaced. Now after

Later
that month my landlord came to us and talked about us buying the
house so we agreed on an amount and for how long from then on we
started remodling room to room. In Oct '99 we found out we were
having our own child. We brought him home from the hospital to his
own room. Then we had one more, and like the first he was also brought
to this home. All of our children miss it and don't want to move
anywhere else. They wanted to live there forever!! Before Thaddeus
died we made him a promise we that would never leave Necaise St.
so
long, come to find out she did not even have insurance which she
was in a contract for. Now we have to figure out how do you rebuild
when you have no money and still have to live? We figured save a
little here and there, buy material when we can. Then we learn of
this organization and I knew there really was a God. I pray to have
a home for our children again. They are everything. They are what
makes us get up and go and not want to just drowned in our loss
of our home and our other child. For that we are grateful.
