6/30/06 Update: Charles still awaits assistance. He has received no funds from FEMA. He has applied for a housing grant but is still awaiting the outcome.

Charles moved to Waveland, MS 32 years ago. He is from New Orleans, La. He has been a life-long bachelor and does not have any children. He has a niece in Gulfport and a sister in Waveland. After Hurricane Katrina devastated our community Charles applied for his FEMA trailer just like everyone else in desperate need. He had to wait 6 months to get it and it wasn't until I went as far to call WLOX (the local news station). Every time he or I would call FEMA or pay a visit to the local office we would get the run around and told it should be soon. They were aware that Charles was sleeping in his car on cold nights with the heater running and on the driveway on warmer nights. After his trailer was delivered he had to wait 10 days to get the keys to it!! Meanwhile they put him in a trailer park where he had no hot water. Charles does not have the money to rebuild his home and has had NO help. Please, if there is ANYTHING you can help him with I know he would greatly appreciate it as well as myself.
