Diane 71
On
the day before the hurricane I evacuated taking only 2 days of clothes,
medicines, and valuable papers with me. As I locked my door and
backed out of my driveway I never dreamed I'd never go back to my
home again. I evacuated to my daughters home in Forest Hill, MD.
I am 71 years old have had open heart surgery and have diabetes,
arthritis, pulmonary fibrosis, asthma and osteoporosis. While at
my daughters I received a call from FEMA telling me they had declared
my home demolished. I had several trees on the roof and my home
had 20' of water over my roof. The surge had taken it off the foundation.
(I had no flood insurance.) Needless to say I lost everything I
ever owned. My home, furniture, clothes, and valuable photos. Trying
to salvage anything was impossible due to the damage the structure
was too dangerous to enter.
I called my home My Paradise.
I
am retired and on social security and cannot afford to rebuild or
pay rent. My home was paid for. My Allstate homeowners only paid
me for my roof 5,659.08. As a result I am presently homeless and
in a temporary FEMA trailer. Where do I go after I have to give
up my trailer? I have been living with this fear and stress. PLEASE
HELP ME! I will appreciate anything you can do to help me. Thank
you for your consideration God Bless you. Diane
