Update 3/12/07 - Richard and Barbara's Home:

Through your generous donations to the Pave the Wave campaign, we were able to prepare Richard and Barbara's land for building and help with a portion of the cost for materials needed for their new home. The Bourgeois were issued a grant through Mississippi Home Help that, along with your donations to Pave the Wave, cover the cost of their new home. A team led by an Amish group that is stationed in Waveland offered free labor.

Thanks to all of you who have pledged your support by making donations or purchasing a commemorative brick, cornerstone or paving stone that will live on in downtown Waveland as a monument to your compassion.

The home is built eight feet up to protect from future flooding. It is equipped with an elevator.

A note from their daughter Loretta:

"Happy New Year!!! and indeed it will be. Dad and Mom received the gift certificate Wednesday. They were so surprised and happy. We will be sending a Thank-you soon. The Amish are going to town on the house, we actually might have outside walls going up today. The weather is a factor today. Dad sits in the trailer and watches every move. He told us before the house is done he is going to at least drive in one nail. Even though the house is raised 81/2 feet up they are still excited to see something going up. I want to say a special Thank-you from ME. Yall have been so supportive in the effort of my parents. May God truly Bless yall in abundance. I will keep you posted on the progress so that when yall come down you will be delighted to see how far they have come. Again, Thank-you all from the bottom of my heart for all your love and support. Sincerely, Loretta"
