The Giving Circle began as a response to the destruction of Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast. Based in upstate New York, our founding members sent trucks of supplies and Christmas gifts to the storm's victims. They organized several work teams who traveled to Waveland Mississippi to rebuild shattered homes and lives. This involvement continued through Tropical Store Irene in upstate NY and Hurricane Sandy in Staten Island.
Supporting Community Projects
The Giving Circle's many volunteers provide the workforce and donations to enhance the mission of local community service agencies.
This work takes many forms, including:
- Providing technology assistance to local nonprofits,
- Building resources that help local agencies,
- Doing building repairs for local non-profts and those they serve,
- Helping agencies serve clients in ways beyond their allowed funding.

Rebuilding homes and lives
Rebuilding someone's home is both a spiritual and a physical action, as the home improvements help an elderly woman remain in her home or another person recover from years of severe spousal abuse.
