Meet Family #2: Robin and Frank
Robin, who lives in Niskayuna, suffers form a neuromuscular disorder called spinal muscular atrophy, which causes weakened muscles. Sadly, there is no treatment for this progressive disorder. Robin can only get around now with a scooter and depends on her husband, Frank, who is her primary caregiver. Frank must help her with her daily life activities (e.g. getting out of bed, in the bathroom, shower, dressing, etc). Frank also recently required neck surgery and is unable to do as much as before, so they now rely on the help of aides.
On December 10th, a large team of VERY fit trainers and staff from Orangetheory Fitness, of Niskayuna & Albany, will descend upon Robin and Frank’s home. They will be using all that assembled muscle to move years of accumulated items and clutter to a waiting dumpster, generously donated by County Waste and Recycling. The Giving Circle volunteers will also make repairs to the home.
Thanks to the donation of a staircase chair lift by Jake’s Help from Heaven, Robin can again gain access to the 2nd floor of her home. The removal of years of accumulated items will allow for a new family room for Robin and Frank.
All of this hard work done by the great people of Orangetheory Fitness Niskayuna & Albany, home renovations and many surprises which include holiday decorations, holiday foods and treats; all will be waiting for Robin and Frank’s return home on Sunday Dec 11th. This is sure to bring great joy and be a true Holiday Miracle for this wonderful couple. The donated holiday meal is thanks to Kim Klopstock’s Lily and the Rose.
