Uganda: Day 3 & Day 4

The internet has been quite poor at the hotel.  For our agenda on Day 3 and Day 4 is as follows and has  been successfully completed:

Day 3 @ Busoga School:

  • Laptop/Ubuntu Training for teachers and students
  • Mind Mapping
  • Geography
  • Sign Language: this class was a HUGE hit and students/teachers requested a second round of classes on this day!
  • Science class: solar system
  • Music class with donated recorders: the kids LOVED it
  • Made soup with noodles, meat and veggies

The students then practiced to perform for us. This was awesome too, they bring tears to us all with their words and emotions.

Day 4 @ Kagoma Gate:

  • Book reading/hand puppets: a great class
  • Simple story writing: we read a book to the kids and they drew or wrote a summary of what they heard
  • Child Rights & Protection class: very important for both students and teachers
  • Art Class
  • Camera/Picture taking “field trip” where the kids went into their homes and took pictures of their “life”
  • Guitar playing: this was wonderful – the kids really got into it and learned our “american” kid songs quickly
  • Soccer games
  • Made soup with noodles, meat and veggies
