Hurricane Helene Relief – Western North Carolina 2024

It has been a month since Hurricane Helene devastated many areas in the US. Western North Carolina was one of the hardest hit areas. The process of cleaning up and rebuilding will be a long one! The Giving Circle has been in contact with an organization on the ground and we want to help! Highland Lake Cove is a retreat center located near Asheville, NC that has been focused on community building for decades. Since the storm, they now “have an opportunity to help design communities to be both more resilient and regenerative…” They are partnering with other local organizations to help rebuild not only the roads, houses, farms, and small businesses, but also the core of the community… the people. Together we can support their efforts! Every dollar will make a difference!

We have identified a farmer who could really use the help. She shared that no agency has committed to any funding at this point…it’s a sit and wait situation. The farm is close to a river and the damage to the fields is extensive. Repairing and replanting before the spring comes is imperative. Below are before and after photos of the field.
