Street Outreach Team
“Never look down on anyone unless you’re helping them up”
The Giving Circle Outreach team helps those living on the streets in downtown Saratoga. You could find the Outreach team doing anything from giving out clothing, toiletries, camping supplies, helping with Medicaid, free cell phone applications, giving a ride, treating them to a meal, providing laundry assistance, and overall and very important, being a friend to ones who, so often feel friendless, forgotten, and alone.
Most all of those living on the streets have the Outreach team’s phone numbers so that our homelessness and struggling friends can call for help at anytime.
Each Thursday night we provide a hot meal outside at the Presbyterian Church on Circular Street in Saratoga Springs. We do this during the warmer months when Code Blue isn’t open. Each Thursday at 6PM we show up with a hot meal, drinks, dessert and any supplies that might be useful. We generally serve 25-35 each week.
The Giving Circle believes in the power of partnering and working together with other groups to help ones in need. One Thursday night a month, the Starpoint Church provides the night’s meal and also a wonderful little music concert that everyone looks forward to.
When the temperature drops and winter months set in, when Code Blue is open, you will find our team volunteering their time there. Even if we aren’t on the schedule to volunteer, at least one of the team checks in most nights to make sure that no one needs anything and to just say hello. Those that we help know, that even though we aren’t doing our regular Thursday dinners during this time, they can still call or come to us for help!
The Giving Circle Outreach team is lead by Rachael Dwyer, Melissa Phillips, Patty Riggi, Jack Sullivan, and Jay Scarborough.
We love what we do and love the people we serve! If you would like to help in any way, please contact us at the Giving Circle Email.
